That is why it is so futile to bleat every morning and evening--as most of television's chattering classes do (with a few notable and welcome exceptions)--that the Bush Administration must search for--and embrace--a diplomatic solution to the crisis with North Korea.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. 846 days later. WHAT IN THE FUCK HAS CHANGED?!?!?!?!?
Diplomatic solutions require an exchange of promises. We have done that with both North Korea and Iraq, and we know it has not worked and will not work when the other side of the negotiating table is occupied by either of those countries.
So simple. So under-reported.
With great fanfare the Clinton Administration in 1994 proudly produced the Agreed Framework with North Korea. The U.S. agreed to arrange for Pyongyang to obtain two nuclear reactors. These reactors were supposedly "incapable" of producing plutonium--the first lie. With only a little technical effort, they could produce it. We were also to give the North free fuel oil. And the North's commitment? To give up its nuclear weapons program.
100%? Exact? Unmistaken? Hit the nail on the head? Fucking bang-on?
Yea, Jonny... next time ya got something like THIS to say... The comments are listed under every post for a Good reason.
