Benevolent Measures

The K.C.N.A accidentally gives people in the West a liiiiiiiiitle peek into North Korean Society.

Pyongyang, August 25, 2005 (KCNA: MONDAY'S NEWS FRIDAY) -- The grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang" has drawn nearly 300,000 people in the capital and local areas since its significant premiere was given on August 16 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Korea. The wishes of people to watch it are growing stronger as the days go by. Informed of those wishes, leader Kim Jong Il took benevolent measures to ensure that those trains operating between Pyongyang and Sinuiju, Manpho, Hyesan, Chongjin and other areas offer special coach service for those who travel to the capital city to watch Arirang and bus service is provided for those traveling for the same purpose from the areas not far away from it such as South Phyongan and North Hwanghae provinces. As a result, this special bus service began on August 22 for travelers from Phyongsong, Nampho, Anju, Kaechon and other areas and the first train with coaches called "For Arirang Audience Only" left Sinuiju and arrived here on August 24.

In a free society... people are free to get somewhere on their own.
