DPRK Delegate Refers to Peaceful Use of Space

Pyongyang, October 27, 2005 (KCNA) -- The "Democratic" "People's" "Republic" of Korea will positively promote the cooperation and exchange with the international community including the UN *snicker* and different countries of the world (the Free ones?) and develop the independent space science and technology in the field of peaceful use of the space. Independant of who? A DPRK delegate ? said this in his speech during the discussion on the agenda item "The international cooperation in the peaceful use of the space" at the meeting of the 4th committee of the 60th UN General Assembly on Oct. 19. zzzzz! He noted that the space should not become someone's (1)monopoly, even for the people that use it the most? adding that if the universe is to become a peaceful one conducive to promoting the welfare state of humankind it is important to reject the (2)monopolistic practices in the space development and enable all countries to freely participate in it on an equal footing. He went on: Ughhh... The successes achieved in the space development should be shared for the well-being of all countries and peoples. Ya gotta develop the technology first brainwaves... It is necessary to categorically reject any attempt to disturb and control the developing countries' activities for the space development and (3)monopolize the space in a bid to retain a technological edge. It is also necessary to stand firm against any attempt to militarize the space if it is to become a peaceful one conducive to the well-being of mankind. The DPRK assails all moves to turn the space into a military base and battle site against the sovereign states and calls for building an international legal mechanism for preventing the space militarization as early as possible, he asserted. Fuck! That WAS a cool movie, eh? I liked the scene where the Orbiting Lazer shot Kim Jong Il though the fuckin' eye!!!
I hate to bring everyone in North Korea back to reality, but Japan is as far as the D.P.R.K has gone...

If that is a North Korean Rocket, it looks an awful lot like the 24 inch long Estes Aerobee 300 I have sitting on my shelf which is a flying scale model of a sounding rocket America used in the mid-50s to explore space by the standards of that day (straight up, straight down and a few minutes worth of data). Looks like the PDRK has a lot to catch up on.

The Taepodong it is called.
I think this was the one they launched over Japan.

It is believed to be able to hit Hawaii or Alaska.

NOT orbit.
