poverty, the third world, lack of arable land, the fact they had to rebuild the country from practically nothing twice, after ww2 and then the korean war: all of these things, ALONG with kim jong il's leadership, have lead to the state that north korea is in. it's not down to one man alone.

Having just visited the Banner of songun's blog I wanted to comment, but why waste my time. The initial posting reminded me so much of the pig "Squealer" from Orwell's "Animal Farm".
Fortunately it is socialism and Marxism that is headed toward the ash bin of history as an absolute failure. Capitalism works imperfectly and unfairly, but at least it works; socialism and all its mutations (Communism, Naziism, Fascism etc.) do not.
